You know I post a lot of articles on Goarticles so I thought I would make one just for this site.Obviously you could use it and give credit by taking this portion out,but I just thought I’d mention that the idea for this article comes solely from there.

You see after making article after article about some of the most random things I’ve come to realize a few things.I could make the funniest, coolest, and best article in the world and no one would ever even know about it unless the name centered around something contrversial. It seems people are like dogs, when I tell my dog he’ll be going outside his ears perk up and he runs to the door. When people see the work sex, fuck, blows,or bitch they gladly click on a link because one reason…you’re all tools. That’s right,I wrote this completely non funny article and you read it,most likely because you thought I would make funny and im-mature references to sex in it,sorry I’ll do that in my next article. This one is devoted to me telling you how much of a tool you are. That’s why articles like this one can get more hits than ones like this one.See both of them rock faces more than Tom Petty, who was awesome in concert by the way.So yeah,I doubt anyone is still reading since they found out this article wasn’t about sex,but oh well. That’s ok with me.Now that I made my point let me end with a reminder that my next article probably will be about something immature and vulgar so look around for it.

There are many self-help books on the market, especially in the martial arts, that purport to teach readers self-defense.

I believe most are well-intentioned, and much of the advice is honorable and helpful.

But there is no book of wisdom that can make you the warrior you’ll become through steady, long-term practice under expert guidance in a dojo or martial arts studio.

There are several reasons I say this:

(1) Your reflexes will become much faster with consistent practice. If you’ve seen the movie with Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie, “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” you’ll remember the dinner table scene when Pitt drops a wine bottle and Jolie snares it out of thin air, without any muss or fuss. Instantly, Pitt’s character knew she had training, and he needed to be wary.

If someone throws a punch at your face, your body needs to know exactly what to do without the intervention of conscious thought. Dojo training is behavioral, reflex-building training, and no book can teach that to you.

(2) In dojos you practice with other people, with partners. You just can’t act and react the same way, by yourself, with a book or by watching video.

(3) You can actually see what happens when people get angry or temporarily lose control. I’ve broken ribs, and mine have been broken, twice. It’s amazing how little force is required to do this, or to put people in the hospital.

(4) Your misconceptions about the glamour of violence can be dashed, safely. Fights aren’t pretty. That’s a great lesson for any punk who thinks he can get away with intimidating people and never get hurt, himself.

(5) You can get so good that the odds of using your skills diminish, tremendously, making you and those around you, much safer.

I’m sure there are other reasons for joining a dojo, but these come to mind. If you’re ready to learn, poke your head into a training hall, and get your nose out of books!

Has your once well-organized marketing plan come to
resemble the jumble of stuff in your closet (not to mention
the garage and the attic)? If you are like most people,
each time you come across a new marketing idea you try to
adopt it and add it to your existing approach.

Strategies and tactics tend to accumulate and linger even
when they may not be working as well as you’d like. Like
the ill-fitting clothes that accumulate in your closet or
the broken tools still in the garage, they are hard to get
rid of, whether because of habit, emotional attachment or
just plain not getting around to cleaning them out.

To improve your marketing, you’ll need to clean out some
old ways of working. While I don’t want to get anywhere
near your closet, and in fact I could use some help with
mine, I can show you how to clean up your marketing plan so
you’re ready to take advantage of the New Year to grow your
business.

Cleaning Up Your Marketing Plan
Every morning my friend Michael Angier of SuccessNet.org
sits down at his desk and asks himself the following three
questions about his business.

1. What’s working?
2. What’s not working?
3. What can I improve?
You may not want to review your marketing plan five times a
week, but it is a good idea to do it at least once a year.
So take out your pencil or fire up your computer and assess
your marketing plan:

Your Marketing Plan
1. Is your plan working?
2. Do you have a well defined marketing strategy that helps
you achieve the three phases of marketing: Getting
Attention, Positioning, and Selling?
3. Do you need to write or rewrite your marketing plan?
4. Do you need additional information or coaching to
complete your marketing plan?
5. What are you going to do to improve your marketing
plan?

Getting Attention
6. Does your marketing message prompt prospects to contact
you?
7. Do your ads, letters, and web site motivate prospects to
contact you?
8. What are your conversion rates?
9. What steps can you take to improve them?

Positioning
10. What are you doing to establish your credibility with
prospects, to help them know and trust you?
11. Is it working as well as you’d like?
12. What could you improve?
13. Is the value of your products and services clear to
your prospects or do they question you about merits and
price?
14. Want to learn how to ensure that your prospects
understand the value of your products and services?

Selling
15. How successful are you in selling, that is, in getting
commitments for everything from appointments to orders?
16. What’s your conversion rate of prospects contacted to
clients and customers?
17. Do initial s/ales generate repeat s/ales and referrals
for years to come?
18. Want to learn how to generate more s/ales from each
client?

Evaluating Your Marketing Plan
Use Michael’s three questions to summarize your comments
about your marketing plan and your success in getting
attention, positioning and selling.

1. What’s working?

2. What’s not?

3. What do you want to improve?

The hardest part about cleaning out your closet, attic,
garage or your marketing is getting started. It may be time
to straighten up or throw out some of your old marketing
strategies and tactics and replace them with new more
effective ones. Start 2005 with a well organized marketing
plan, one that helps you Get Attention, Position your
products and services and Sell and you’ll find your
business growing in leaps and bounds in the coming year.

Body jewelry and body piercing practices have been observed by various groups of people all over the world throughout the centuries. For some tribes it is a rite of passage, for others it is an indicator of social status. For many, body jewelry is used to enhance personal beauty and as devices to rise above the rest of the pack. Today’s celebrities have been at the forefront in making body jewelry much more mainstream and acceptable - even desirable.

“What’s a little pain if it’ll make me look hip” seems to be the prevalent thought among the young and the old who are turning out in increasing numbers to participate in the body jewelry trend. Not so long ago, only punk rockers and those with ‘bad boy’ images, such as former NBA star Dennis Rodman, were seen sporting body piercings in mainstream media. Today, body jewelry is endorsed by pop celebrities with mass followings, including Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Fiona Apple and Lenny Kravitz. Britney Spears has an extensive collection of navel rings, and Christina Aguilera is said to wear the most interesting body jewelry in areas that are covered by her clothing.

Some celebrities with an otherwise ’serious’ image are nevertheless fans of body art. Actress Camryn Manheim of the television drama ‘The Firm’ sports multiple earrings on the cartilage of one ear. Gillian Anderson, who played the cynical and skeptical FBI agent Dana Scully in the television series ‘The X Files,’ has a pierced belly button. Performers with tongue piercings include former Spice Girl Melanie Brown (Scary Spice) and dancer Jimmy Gulzar, while supermodels Christy Turlington and James King are proud of their piercings. Some sports celebrities also wear body jewelry, including WWE wrestlers A-Train and Billy Gunn, as well as football player Ricky Williams.

Body jewelry has also been used throughout the ages to enhance sensation, and by extension, sexuality and sexual performance. Genital and nipple piercing in both men and women, while not as widespread as nose, ear, tongue, navel and eyebrow piercing, still has its own following. Singer Janet Jackson has stated on the Oprah Winfrey talk show that she likes the sensation that her pierced nipples give her. Other celebrities with pierced nipples include rock musicians Axl Rose and Tommy Lee, Icelandic singer Bjork and rapper Lil Kim. Pop princess Britney Spears likewise has a pierced nipple.

Celebrities, whether they like it or not, are oftentimes looked up to as role models and the influence they wield over their fans is considerable. Fans emulate their idols’ preferences: from clothing, mannerism, even to the wearing of body jewelry. More and more, they are playing a leading role not only in the direction of today’s fashion trends but also in the shaping of modern pop culture.

Compact digital cameras make so much sense when you think of all the things that you can do with them that you just couldn’t do with film cameras in the past. You can view the photos as you take them. You can upload them to your home computer for further editing in a photo edit program. You can save them on your hard drive to be printed out whenever you like. You can email copies to anyone around the world, and much more. And besides all that, they are light and compact and can easily be taken almost anywhere.

So it’s no wonder that many camera buyers are opting to purchase digital cameras rather than film cameras these days. But the two mediums are completely different and so what should you be looking for when you buy a compact digital camera? Here are some things that you should watch for:

* The LCD screen. Almost all digital cameras these days come with a built in LCD screen for framing the shot beforehand and viewing it afterwards. But some have larger screen sizes above 2 inches or so that give you better clarity, especially for those of us whose eyes aren’t what they used to be. So if that describes you, look for a LCD screen that is over 2 inches in size.

* Many digital cameras have autofocus built in so that you don’t have to fiddle with focusing each shot before you take it. This is another great feature, but some autofocus mechanisms work faster than others. The fastest ones work in less than .5 seconds. What this means to you is that when you press the shutter button, the camera has to focus before it actually takes the photo and the time between when you press the button and the moment that the picture is actually taken is called “shutter lag”, and this lost time interferes with how many shots you can take in a row when fast sequence events are happening. So check each camera that you are considering and see how long the autofocus mechanism takes to do it’s job. Those that take a full second or more will probably be irritating to work with over the long haul.

* If you buy a compact digital camera that has a strong zoom factor of 10X or more you may want to be sure that you have image stabilization built into your camera to help eliminate some of the shaking caused by your hands. With most compact digital cameras this will not be a major problem, but when the focal length increases to the equivalent of a 200mm lens or more, it’s easy to get blurry photos just from hand holding the camera. Image stabilization technology has come a long way though and can be a big help in this area, so if telephoto shots are important to you, be sure to also look for this feature on the camera.

There are lots of great compact digital cameras available today at very reasonable prices. So do your homework, check the features that are most important to you, and buy the compact digital camera that fits you best.

When planning any vacation, we all want to find the very best value possible. This is no different when planning a cruise vacation. Finding - and getting - cruise discounts is not that difficult. Not all cruise discounts however will give you the best value.

What is important to you in a vacation cruise is not necessarily what is important to me or anyone else. So the discount you get offered may be for a cruise, cruise line, or stateroom that doesn’t interest you. Sure, the price is right but if you get full enjoyment, where is the value? If you are flexible or if you simply want to ‘get-away-from-it-all’ then any discount will be a good one for you.

We have identified six different ways that cruise discounts are offered. One is sure to be right for you.

Early Booking Discounts

This type of discount is available from most cruise lines and for most itineraries. If you book before a certain date, the cruise line offers a special discount price for your vacation. Now these discounts may not be the ‘best prices’ you can get but by booking early you will most often get the cruise you want, on the cruise ship you desire, and the itinerary of interest, in the stateroom or suite of your choice. All of these items combined can make this type of vacation discount the very best value for your cruise. You may say that if you wait, with the cruise ships being so large these days, you can get exactly what you want. Be forewarned! Cruises do sell out.

Last Minute Discounts

This is by far the riskiest discount to plan on. If your preferred cruise sells out, you’re stuck without that cruise vacation. If you would prefer a balcony stateroom, all that may be available at the time could be inside rooms. However, having said all of that, these discounts can at times provide the very best pricing. So if you are flexible in itinerary, cruise ship, vacation date, and stateroom preference, perhaps this is your best bet.

Group Booking Discounts

If you can generate some interest in your planned cruise vacation with others, you could qualify for a ‘group rate’. Not all cruise lines would offer this - or any other - discount but it is certainly worth pursuing. The rates again may not be as low as for a last minute cruise discount but you can get in early enough to ensure that you get the preferences listed above.

Low Season Discounts

Should your vacation schedule fall into one of the ‘low seasons’ for cruise vacations, you would be in luck. In the Caribbean for example, the so-called ‘Hurricane season’ provides many great cruise rates for potential passengers. Now I know that ’summer season’ is a better name for it from a marketing standpoint but we may as well call it like it is. Keep in mind that on a cruise, should a major storm happen, cruise ships can divert to calmer waters. Today’s cruise ships can out-run storms as well. If you were to be in a resort on a land-based vacation, you would have no choice but to flee or take cover.

Value Added Cruise Pricing

This type of ‘discount’ does not change the price of the cruise itself. It does however give guests specials additions and ‘perks’. One such added value could be stateroom upgrades - you pay for a certain category of stateroom and the cruise line automatically bumps you up into the next category. Another common value-added feature is an on-board credit. In this case, the cruise line adds a credit to your stateroom account that can be used while on your vacation. Other perks can include free logo-wear or a bottle of wine in your stateroom.

Previous Cruisers Discounts

For first-time cruisers, this type of discount will be un-attainable. But next cruise on the same cruise line, you may be offered many different specials that you may find attractive. These could include free upgrades and on-board credits as detailed above.

Whether you take advantage of any of the possible discounts available for cruise vacations, one thing is certain. A cruise aboard one of the magnificent cruise ships will be an experience to cherish!

If you have begun exchanging links, you know how time consuming — and time-wasting — it can be. On the other hand, you don’t want to give up the process because you might actually unearth the occasional valuable link partner. After all, you know that getting links to your site is important because it brings in traffic, helps you find strategic partners, and enhances your Search Engine rankings. Your objective is to get hundreds of links, and you cannot get the job done unless you have a strategy that works.

First you have to accept that not all links are created equal. And that means that link partners have to be prioritized. Some are worthless because your links end up on pages that nobody looks at and have no PR.

But at the other end of the spectrum a few of your link partners will be very valuable because they will give you links on high value, high traffic pages.

Most of the rest of your inbound links will be marginally valuable. How you tell the difference between the valuable ones and the useless ones is the subject of many discussions and articles, some of which you will find at the Linknet Marketing Resource Library.

————————————————–

The fastest, most direct, and least painful strategy is to find link partners who will either sell or trade text ads on a number of high value pages. For example, at Linknet we do both of these things (selling and trading multiple links).

We offer up to 25 free links across 25 websites. And we also offer packages of 30 and 50 links for one small annual fee. For more information go to our Fr ee Advertising page.

————————————————–

One solution is to put prospective link partners into three levels. This assumes that you have already rejected those that have negative value — the sites you don’t want to identify with for various reasons — pornography, violence, racism, pharmaceuticals, and so on. Here is a suggestion for three levels of inbound links (links pointing at your pages):

Level 1 - Basic Links These links will often be from sites you have not taken a lot of time to study. So they may not have significant positive value. But they will not have negative value either. Therefore, if exchanging links with these partners can be done efficiently, there is no downside to doing it. These will usually be “reciprocal” partners and can be given links on properly formed “link directory pages”. The more time and effort you put into your directory, the more valuable it will become.

Level 2 - Self-Generated Multi-Links The second category consists of “multi-links” that you generate yourself. You do this by seeding your articles, forum posts, blog entries and so on, around the web. Many of the strategies used to create these links are discussed in the “Power Linking” section of the Linknet Marketing Resource Library, mentioned above.

Level 3 - High Value Links The third and most valuable category consists of “High Value Links” on sites that you specifically target. These include high traffic sites in your area of interest, highly rated directories, and sites where you can get a number of quality links all at once. In some cases these links will bring you lots of traffic. In other cases they will enhance your PR and Search Engine ranking. You need both kinds.

As I mention in other posts, there are a range of strategies to get these “Level 3″ links. For instance,

- Write glowing testimonials. Target 10 or 20 high traffic sites in your area of interest, and send your testimonial to the webmaster. Usually they can’t resist publishing it where everybody will see it.

- Write positive reviews of sites and/or posts. Target 10 or 20 high traffic products/sites. Post the reviews on your site or in your blog, and make sure to send a copy to the reviewee. Again, most webmasters or online entrepreneurs are hungry for this kind of exposure. You might even create a “review” section on your site to show you are serious.

But the fastest, most direct, and least painful strategy is to find link partners who will either sell or trade text ads on a number of high value pages. For example, at Linknet we do both of these things (selling and trading multiple links).
