In today’s world of technology, people can file for bankruptcy online. The court has a federal database called PACER that can be accessed online by paying a fee.

Many attorneys file cases online. Also, with the increase in usage some courts actually permit attorneys to file cases on behalf of their clients through online electronic access only, but pro se debtors are typically not allowable to file via the PACER system.

There are several attorneys and services online. Most attorneys are eager to find ways to help debtors via email, but clients have to remember that they still need to sign some documents at some point in time. Attorneys do not prefer to offer document preparation services for debtors with online filing options because these put the attorney in an awkward predicament. He or she then becomes liable to the court as if representing the client throughout the entire process. Most attorneys would prefer to meet each client in person, verify their identity, and develop a personal level of comfort and assurance with each new client.

Attorneys may be held responsible by the court if they are found guilty of negligence and documenting misrepresentations. For that reason, few attorneys are enthusiastic to risk personal liability for anyone who is reluctant to present themselves in person.

Attorneys will request a valid photo i.d. and permission to perform a background check. Once the debtor sets up an attorney/client relationship and signs the documents, few debtors are obligatory to be present in court until the meeting of the creditors (11 U.S.C. Sec. 341) in ordinary cases.

There are several services accessible online that can simplify the procedure of filling bankruptcy without an attorney. These bankruptcy sites will guide debtors through the process and help them to organize all the forms online and then print them out to file with the bankruptcy court. There are also paralegal sites that can allow debtors to file their petition online.

Although most modern homes have lead free plumbing installation,
there are still millions of houses that have older plumbing and
thus increase the chances of higher lead levels in water. In the
last two decades, measures taken in accordance with the Safe
Drinking Water Act have greatly diminished lead presence in
drinking water. However, some metal water taps, pipes connecting
homes to the main street pipe or interior water pipes might
still produce such problems. Water that stays in pipes for
several hours can get contaminated with lead resulting from
corrosion of the pipe itself or of the soldering.

There is no other precise way to eliminate the threat of lead in
your drinking water unless you have it tested for its chemical
composition. The presence of lead cannot be detected by taste or
smell, neither can you see the lead particles, as they are
microscopic. Another approach is to ask your water provider what
the lead concentration in the water is. If you are connected to
a private supplier, they should have such information available.
Public water providers also take this problem into account and
you can usually get some detailed and accurate answers to your
questions. Before calling your provider you might also want to
try their website, where such information is usually posted.

The level of risk of drinking water high in lead levels is not
high for most people, but it is a factor worth looking at.
Elevated lead levels in your blood may lead to several
complications, even in a healthy adult. Sick persons and those
that are weaker due to age or other conditions may experience
bigger problems when drinking lead contaminated water. Infants
are at the highest risk, as their small body size might be
affected by consuming water with high lead levels. The
Environmental Protection Agency declared a level of 15 parts per
billion (ppb) as the high limit of lead concentration in
drinking water.

If you want to make sure that your water is risk free ask your
local provider if the ppb level is below 15. If they answer yes,
then you can safely drink water without any fear of increased
lead levels. However, if they give you a negative answer, you
should ask if the street service pipe has lead in it. If they
say that the street pipe is lead free, than your problems might
be coming from the pipes in your home. In order to get rid of
water with excess lead, try to let cold water run for a few
minutes. This ensures that water that has been sitting in pipes
will be flushed out. Even if the water street pipe contains
lead, the same procedure can be applied. You should always use
water for drinking or cooking if it comes form the cold tap, not
the hot one. Filtration systems applied directly on tap might
also greatly reduce lead levels in the water that comes through
your pipes.

Who lives in your house? Are they driving you “crazy?” Do you have a Winnie the Whiner, a Sammy the Slacker, or a Bubba the Bully? Perhaps you’ve yelled, you’ve lectured, and you’ve even spanked to get your Winnie to stop whining, your Sammy to do his chores, and your Bubba to stop hurting his little brother. How can you get your Peter the Cheater to play fair, your Larry the Liar to tell the truth or your Tilly the Tattle to mind her own business? Our greatest task as parents is to raise children with strong healthy characters. Let’s find out how Character-Building Charts helped one mother and how they can help you too.

I remember counseling a young boy who was a ‘Sammy the Slacker.’ One day his teacher confided, “When I tell my class, ‘Children, please take out your readers,’ Sammy leans back in his chair, his arms hanging over its back, and calls out, ‘I can’t find my book!’ Sure enough, a little girl scrambles over, looks his messy desk, and finds it for him.”

Sammy irritated his teacher, lost the respect of his classmates, and had no friends. These are not the consequences most parents want for their children.

To help Sammy, I worked with his parents, especially his mother. I found out that her mother and grandmother believed it was their duty to be servants to their families. They were to pick up after everyone, do all the housework, and be happy too.

Sammy’s mom finally understood that she was spoiling her child, making him weak, dependent, and distasteful to others. She decided to turn off the internal voices of her mother and grandmother.

Sammy’s mother did three things:

Wrote out age-appropriate chores for Sammy

Created a chart to help build his character

Worked with Sammy to choose a goal for his chart

Sammy’s mother learned that goals must be clear, simple, and positive. At the top of Sammy’s chart he wrote, “My goal is to do my own work and then help others.”

Sammy’s mom strengthed her bond with Sammy by:

Offering stickers for his chart

Creating a cost-free bonding activity list

Offering Sammy the choice of a bonding activity to do together when he earned a certain number of stickers

Once the chart was created, they posted it on the refrigerator. Sammy’s mom knew she had to encourage his improvements by:

Being consistent in rewarding Sammy.

Offering his stickers soon after he completed a task

Scheduling his bonding activity soon after he earned enough stickers

Because Sammy’s mom was positive and consistent in rewarding him, he went from being Sammy the Slacker to becoming Sammy the Helper. His teacher sent home reports of improvement and, slowly but surely, Sammy made friends.

Whether you have a Billy the Blamer, a Gretta the Greedy, or a child with some other problem behavior, consider using CHARACTER-BUILDING CHARTS. You’ll be teaching your child responsibility, self-discipline, and teamwork. You’ll even enjoy finding out who lives in your house. You’ll be saner and happier and you’ll be building character too.

Character Building Charts and a Bonding Activities List have been created for your convenience.

Are Gay Smokers at Huge Risk of Dying from Lung Cancer? Well not if the City of Los Angeles has anything to say about the issue. The City of Los Angles, California in the United States of America has started a new program, which will cost about $30,000.00 taxpayer dollars called “The Last Drag” which targets homosexual gay and lesbian smokers. A recent study by the gay and lesbian community revealed a huge finding that homosexuals are twice as likely to smoke than heterosexuals.

No one knows why, but many believe it has to do with societal stress in our civilization and is because so many homophobic, rude and nasty people give them a hard time. It is for this reason that Los Angeles Country Health Officials have a new anti-program for gays and lesbians regarding this smoking issue.

Like Washington D.C., Palm Springs, various enclaves in Massachusetts the gay men and women have a bar scene culture, which allows them to come out of the closet by going to these drinking establishments, where a lot of smoking takes place, it is legal to smoke there. The director of the Gay and Lesbian Center in Los Angeles indicated that this needed to change. Similar programs are also going on in San Francisco in the Gay and Lesbian areas and they have been successful there. The recent study shows that over 30% of homosexuals have the dirty habit, of smoking, yet only 15% of heterosexuals smoked in California. Maybe this will help save lives in Los Angeles? Think on it.
