I have several websites on the web… And I have the same
problem for everyone of them: build web site traffic.
Actually, there are “no” magic secrets to increase the traffic
of my websites, I must use the best marketing I can. The
following suggestions will help you to build web site traffic,
they are simple to use.
Attract the target audience that would buy your product or
service. A simple way to do this is to survey your existing
customers.
Make your web site look professional. You want to have your own
domain name, easy navigation, attractive graphics, etc.
Give people free software. Most people like to find good deals
on software for their computers. If the software is free, that
is even better.
Hold free contests or sweepstakes. Most people like to win
things. If you can fulfill that need, people will stop by to
visit.
Offer a free e-zine. Most people love to get free information
that’s e-mailed to them regularly. This saves them time and
money.
Provide a free web directory. Create a directory of web sites
on a popular topic that will attract your target audience.
Offer free original content. It’s important to give your
visitors information they can’t find anywhereelse. If you’re the
only source, they’ll visit your site.
Give people an urgency so they buy now. Many people are
interested in your product but they put off buying it until
later and eventually forget about it.
Let people read your ad before they get to your freebie. When
you use free stuff to lure people to your web site list it below
your ad copy.
Test and improve your ad copy. There are many people who write
an ad and never change it.
Have a good job with your website. I’m sure my suggestions can
help you…if you desire to make profits, you need to build web
site traffic.
How would you like to earn money online while you sleep? That is the allure of Google Adsense. In theory, if you can create a site with lots of relevant content that people are interested in, you can include Adsense ads and generate income from people reading your content and clicking on relevant ads.
How do you accomplish this? Well, the first step is to figure out what topic you can create an entire site around. Ideally, it should be some sort of popular topic, but some people have also done well with more obscure niches that have devoted members. Your main determination should be based on what topic you are interested in, and can create relevant content for, or can find others to give you that content. If create a site will very little content, you won’t be giving Adsense anything to display ads for.
Once you have your topic, you need to have a web site. There are two main options. You can either go with a dedicated site, or a free blog. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. The main advantage to a free blog, other than the cost (or lack thereof) is that it is extremely easy to add new content. You simply log in to the management page, write up your information, and post it instantaneously. Blogger is a free blog site which offers easy integration with Adsense. A dedicated web site might require some more setup, and cost you more in domain registration and hosting fees, but you have more control over what your visitors see, and you can do more with the layout and structure of the site.
Once you decide on what kind of site you will be using, you need to start adding content. The popular saying is “content is king,” and nowhere is that a truer statement than on an Adsense site. The more content you have that is relevant to your topic, and the more content that focuses on just a few keywords relevant to your topic, the better Adsense will work for you, and the more likely your visitors will actually click on those ads that are being automatically displayed with your content. The best type of content is original content, which is why it is better to choose a topic you already have an interest in, so that you can create your own content. If you are unable to do this, you can ask others to write for you, or you can look to article directories for content that you can use.
Another important piece of the Adsense puzzle is what to do with your ads. There is some debate over this, and you can test what will work on your site yourself. For starters, you can customize the colors used in the Adsense ads. It is always better to choose ads that blend in with the color scheme of your site, so they don’t stand out from your content as much. Also, placement can be important. For example, since people (in most languages) read from left to right, placing ads in a column on the right can increase your response rate, since your readers’ eyes will be drawn to that side of the page after every line of text.
All of the above steps are relatively easy to do, since it is based on how much time you spend designing and creating your site, but they are vitally important. The harder piece that is equally important is to generate traffic to your site. This can be done in many ways, using Search Engine Optimization, Pay Per Click advertising, links from other sites, etc. Those are details for other articles. But the most important detail is that you can have a lot of success by simply providing content that your visitors find valuable. If you can do that, you may not even have to work as hard to drive traffic to your site, since people will gladly share information about a useful site.
Adsense has the potential to become a lucrative source of income for many people. While it may not hold the “get rich quick” appeal of other internet marketing products, it has proven to be a steady and growing source of income for many dedicated individuals.

If you pay attention to only one traffic generating idea, this
is it!
Articles are by far my number one traffic generator for my
sites at this point. I still work the other methods, obviously,
but writing articles is what I concentrate on.
Why articles?
Because they work so well, but so many are afraid of them.
That’s right, afraid. Afraid to write an article because they
don’t feel they know enough on their chosen topics, or that
their grammar won’t be perfect, or that their English teacher
will pick apart their spelling.
If you feel you don’t know enough about a topic you have the
most powerful research tool at your disposal…the Internet!
Spend time searching the Net and finding information to put
into your article. You’re not looking to plagiarize anyone’s
work but rather to learn more about the subject.
This research can reward you in many ways:
The knowledge you gain will enable you to write your article,
or several articles.
The more you learn about your topic the more you become a
trusted resource to your visitors and subscribers.
Keep a file with the links that you visit and find valuable
and you can write another article with just links to great
places to visit related to that topic. You can also use
these to create a links page on your site.
If you are worried about grammar and spelling just paste your
article into Microsoft Word and use the suggestions that it
provides. Better yet, have someone you know read through it
for you and make corrections.
Take your time with your article. There is no deadline for
getting your article ready so don’t feel pressured. Work on
it a little bit at a time. The more effort you put into it
the more reward you will get from it.
Then again maybe you have no problems writing articles but
instead don’t feel they are worth the time and effort required.
Writing articles is VERY MUCH worth the effort! Here are just
a few ways:
More content for your website
Keyword rich content to feed the search engines
When someone else publishes your article on their site or
in their newsletter you get more traffic, more exposure for
you and your site, and more links to your website
And once you put together an article you can benefit from it
for many months to come. I get email asking permission to
reprint articles that I wrote over a year ago!
The information is still just as relevant now as it was back
then, but the point is that the minimal effort I put into it
is rewarding me over a year later.
How many banner ad campaigns can promise that?
Also, many people don’t realize that you can even benefit
from posting other author’s articles on your site.
I’m not saying pretend they are yours, that will get you in
trouble. What I mean is that you can pick up additional
search engine traffic because their articles will have
keywords in them. Add some good meta tags to the pages and
submit away.
I have a couple of articles on my site written by various
authors that happen to rank very well for certain keywords.
Since the articles are related to my site content, this is
free targeted traffic, and I didn’t even have to go through
the effort of writing the articles.
So get over your fears, get prepared for writer’s cramp, and
dive into one of the greatest traffic generators for 2001!
